An experienced traditional stone mason
David began laying stone in 1994, learning the trade the only way it can honestly be learned: years on the wall, under masons who measured their work in decades rather than deadlines.
Since then he has built feature walls, retaining walls, staircases and complete stone structures across Canberra, Queanbeyan, Yass and the surrounding tablelands. Much of that early work is still standing exactly as it was left, which is the only reference a stone mason really needs.
Craftsmanship over volume
Homestead Stonework deliberately takes on a limited number of projects each year. Every job is quoted, set out and built by David personally. The person you meet on the first site visit is the person laying the final stone.
A commitment to real stone
We build in full-depth, locally quarried stone: Nimmitabel and Wee Jasper basalt, Murrumbateman bluestone, sandstone and fieldstone. Proper footings, proper drainage, proper coursing. It costs more, and it is worth more every year that passes.
